How To Use Photoshop Tools

Adobe Photoshop is today\’s market leader when it comes to photo editing software programs. Inside Photoshop are a variety of tools that help you create images such as logos, banners, and buttons from scratch as well as edit digital photographs. You can also download photos, scanned artwork, or Internet icons and use Photoshop to edit them to suit your needs.Tthe incredible breadth of Photoshop’s functions can be daunting, especially if you are a beginner to graphic creation or photo editing; however, after spending a bit of time reading the instruction manual, even someone who is new to photo editing should be able to take advantage of the features available in Photoshop. If you find the book difficult to follow you can also find video tutorials which can guide you through any part of Photoshop.

There are four components of Photoshops desktop. These four areas are the main tools used to create and edit images. These tools are:- Menu Bar, Drawing Canvas, Toolbox & Palettes.

I want to start with the most familiar item first. At the top of the screen is the Menu Bar which looks like the menu bar in most other applications. Each menu item is almost self explanatory; for example, if you want to do anything with the \”file\” you are working on you will find it under \”File.\” If you want to manipulate anything on the screen you should find it under \”Edit\” or \”Tools.\” Under the menu items you will find all the tools in which to create or manipulate your items.

The Drawing Canvas is the next part of Photoshop that you want to become familiar with. The drawing canvas is the large white area in the middle of the screen where you can create or edit your images. Here you can also limit or specify the size of your image and you will want to set the size of your drawing canvas to match your projects requirements. The drawing canvas title bar will tell you the name of your image once you have saved it, as well as the magnification level at which you are viewing your screen and what workspace mode you are in. You can have an unlimited number of drawing canvases open at one time and to set them to all different sizes.

The Toolbox is your main arsenal of tools which will allow you to create and edit your images in Photoshop. The toolbox contains twenty different tools that allow you to draw and modify images on your drawing canvas. When you hold your mouse over each item and a \”tooltip\” will appear telling you the name of the tool itself. You might notice a small triangle at the bottom of the tool icon. If you can press and hold your mouse over the tool a flyout menu will appear showing any hidden tools. With these tools you can create shapes, draw lines, fill in colors, erase images, select parts of an image, and so much more. When you select the different tools Photoshop changes the shape of your mouse pointer with the idea that you will remember what tool you are currently using.

The last component of Photoshop that you will need to be familiar with is the dock which contain certain panels. When you open the program five panels will appear on your screen. These default panels are: information, brushes, layers, command, and color. More panels are found in the Windows menu on the menu bar. These panels are what give Photoshop its versatility. Each panel modifies the properties of the tools in the toolbox. For example, the brushes panel allows you to change the thickness of line your brush draws. Each panel contains its own features and it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with each panel and their functions. You will also want to look at the menu\’s for each of the panels which are availabe at the top right of the panel.

Once you are comfortable with the basic layout of Photoshop you should get to know all the tools in your toolbox. The best way to do this is open a new drawing canvas select each tool and begin to play and see what each one does. If you have the instruction manual in front of you you will be able to read about each of the tools properties and what exactly it does. Once you have become comfortable with the basics of the program you can begin to work on the more advanced features.

Prior to digital cameras you were pretty much stuck with the result from your film camera. If you didn\’t get the shot right you were out of luck. You had no way to fix the photo or even know if it was bad in the first place, until you received it from the film processor. While there were few people who could attempt to fix film processed photos it was not only time consuming but expensive as well.

Fortunately with digital technology we no longer have to worry about our photos not turning out. With digital cameras we can instantly see whether the shot we took was worth keeping or if we needed to retake it. With the aid of photo editing software we can take the photos that need tweaking and fix them with a few clicks of a mouse as revealed by adobe photoshop tutorials.

While there are many photo editing software programs on the market without a doubt Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular. One of the biggest challenges of any photographer is taking photos of their friends and family. Adobe Photoshop Elements Book Reveals Adobe Elements Perfect Photo Editing Tools

Adobe Photoshop Elements Book Reveals Adobe Elements Perfect Photo Editing Tools

Many young photographers today are choosing digital photography as their profession of choice. Unfortunately it is a difficult field to enter and many find difficulties at the outset which preclude them from making it big. The main problem people run into is poor photo quality which easily fails to impress potential clients, as revealed in this free adobe photoshop elements book.

What many new, young photographers are unaware of is the hidden tool that professional use, Adobe Elements. Adobe Elements is a photo editing software program that enables you to take an ordinary photo and manipulate it into something incredible. If you are unfamiliar with this program I have listed a quick glimpse at the tools contained in this program that enable you to create amazing works of art.

Photo editing begins once you have finished taking the picture. When you open your photo inside Elements you always want to create a new layer from the options menu. This is important as you will be making any editing on the new layer and not on your original photo and in the end will make your job much simpler. If your photo is too dark or too bright you will next want to enhance this by using brightness and contrast. You can also accent the color scheme by using various brushes. You can choose from the paint, spray and air brush. You will want to play around with this until you achieve your desired effect.

Once you have selected the brush you want to also choose the stroke size as well as brush size. After choosing the brush tool from the menu press your right bracket key on your keyboard to increase its size and the left bracket key to decrease its size. If you want to not have to go through this process each time you use Elements you can select the sample size option to maintain the consistent size of the brush. The next step is to figure out how dark you want to your brush strokes to be.

Using the opacity tool will give you the freedom to increase or decrease the darkness to improve the clarity of the picture. You should see a slider on the opacity tool which gives you the opportunity to increase or decrease the color intensity of your paint brush from 0% to 100%. Elements has a variety of color schemes and you can play around until you find which will work best for you. Experiment with your colors in different layers and then keep only the layer you are satisfied with.

Once you have mastered Photoshop Elements you may want to move to the professional version called Photoshop CS4. CS4 is more difficult to learn but comes packed with more tools and brushes for you to use. You have more than twelve hard-edged and soft edged brushes to play with. You also have a variety of different brushes, including a star, spatter, air brush, spatter shaped and natural brushes. If these are not enough, you are also given the provision of downloading more unique shaped and sized brushes.

Making Your Photos Look Professional with Photoshop Tools

Making Your Photos Look Professional with Photoshop Tools

Have you ever wondered how professional photographers take such amazing looking photos? Do you want to take photos like the professionals do? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then the Adobe Photoshop software will be able to help you out.

First of all, Adobe Photoshop is considered to be one of the best photo editing software programs ever to hit the market. It is so good at doing its job and can provide the entire necessary photo editing tools that professional photographers from all over the world are now using this software to make their beautifully taken photos even more beautiful.

If you love to take pictures as a hobby but you can\’t seem to get the proper lighting or the proper angle in order to get the perfect shot, then you will see that Adobe Photoshop will be able to help you out. So, just what are the features of Adobe Photoshop that will be able to turn your pictures in one that looks professional?

Well, Adobe Photoshop has all the editing features that you will usually find in a photo laboratory. This means that you will be able to eliminate red eye, back lighted pictures, and even enhance color. You can even add effects that will be able to make a simple picture look great.

These days, you don’t have to be a professional photographer to produce high quality pictures. You don’t even have to learn about exposure compensation, white light balance, and even learn how to tweak an SLR camera. With a normal or ordinary digital camera, you will now be able to produce great quality photos. With Adobe Photoshop, you can correct color saturation and even make good exposure compensation.

You can even edit old yellowed photos and make them look brand new again. Also, you can add new backgrounds on the subject on your photos. For example, you can even make a picture of yourself standing behind your house in to a picture of yourself standing behind the Eiffel Tower and making it look as if it was real.

You can even cut and paste your face on to other people\’s body. For example, if you want a photo with you standing besides your favorite movie star, then you can do so with Adobe Photoshop. You can adjust the lighting effects of your picture in order to match it with another picture.

Another great effect is that you can convert your colored pictures in to sepia or grayscale. Back lighted pictures are a thing of the past as the Adobe Photoshop has editing features that will be able to eliminate the back lighted environment and lighten the dark areas of the picture.

Hand shake errors are also very common. With Adobe Photoshop, you will be able to correct this problem by sharpening the images with the sharpening tools in the software, such as the smart sharpen. For that misty feel, you can blur your photos with smart blur.

With practice, you will be able to remove unwanted objects in a great looking photo, like a trash can or a complete stranger doing wacky poses behind the actual subject. If you master Adobe Photoshop, you can even make money out of it.

As you can see, Adobe Photoshop can turn an ordinary looking picture in to a high quality picture with vibrant colors and great effects that looks professional.

Additional Tools To Enhance Your Photoshop

Additional Tools To Enhance Your Photoshop

Other software programmers created plug-ins and additional tools so that Photoshop can do more and create more.

Adobe Photoshop is a program that is used for graphic design and editing. This means that users can create or alter digital images. It works by being able to create layers of images as well as putting the layers together. Users can also build on existing images by placing layers over them or adding elements directly to the image.

The Photoshop program is the leading product of the Adobe Systems Incorporated. Adobe specializes in digital imaging software. In its recent incarnations, the Photoshop application has been merged with other Adobe programs under the Creative Suite enterprise. The most recent version of the Adobe Photoshop is CS3, meaning that it is the third version of Photoshop since it was included in the Creative Suite umbrella of software.

Like most digital imaging applications, Photoshop has several plug-ins/add-ons or additional tools that can be used in creating and editing digital images. Aside from the standard cut, paste, select, draw and color fill tools; additional options and effects can be loaded as well. Once the add-ons and plug-ins are added, they can be used to enhance the creations that can be made using the programs.

Several software programmers and designers have also taken the time and effort to build on the existing Photoshop program to enhance its capabilities. These downloadable plug-ins and add-ons are often available for free from a number of online sources. What’s important is to make sure the program being downloaded as a Photoshop add-on is compatible with the Photoshop program version you already have installed as well as the safety and security of the file.

Most Photoshop add-ons focus on certain functionalities such as layer styles, actions, scripts, brushes, patterns, gradients, frames, textures and displacement maps. These are made to add to Photoshop’s existing library of tools.

One example of a widely available Photoshop download is Harry’s Filters which is a free downloadable add-in that was created by Harald Heim. The latest released version of the application is version 3.01. What the application does is it allows users to create effects for images by using its own menu box separately from Photoshop. The program has 69 filters available and ready for use once it is downloaded to accompany the Adobe Photoshop. The Harry’s Filters program can then be used to create several image effects, particularly some very realistic ones.

Another useful tool to add to Photoshop would be one that removes the red-eye effect in pictures. The red-eye effect happens when light is reflected by a subject’s eye as a photo is being taken. It is one of the most common things that happen when you are taking a picture of a person in the relative darkness.

The program to remove the red-eye effect is called RedEye Pro developed by Andromeda Software. The plug-in removes the redness of the eyes while retaining the original eye color and the shiny and reflective surface of a typical eye. It does the adjustment without making it look as if the eye has been retouched. The RedEye Pro application also works on eyes that are not perfectly circular such as animal eyes. It is available for free download from selected sources.
